Casa Santo Estevo was restored from a ruin and was registered as a working Casa Rural in the year 2000. A lot of the original features have been kept. Where it was necessary, new materials used were similar to the old ones, so that the house still retains a lot of its original atmosphere.
The house has been furnished to retain that old world ambience of a traditional Galician farmhouse; yet at the same time there are all the comforts that modern living requires. Inside the 6 en-suite bedrooms are spread over 3 storeys that are accessible using stairs. There are several areas which are shared with the other guests The accommodation is equipped with central heating, TV, plus an Internet connected P.C. In addition there are free WiFi hot spots too. All areas inside the house are nominated as non-smoking areas.
The upper floor has two bedrooms, both double beds. There is also a balcony overlooking the dining area and the traditional lareirá. The sofa and the balcony are shared with the rest of the guests.
The middle floor consists of two bedrooms, one with a double bed; the other bedroom has two single beds. The main entrance to the house is on this level too. The main feature to this part of the house is the dining room with its old lareirá (an open hearth). This used to be the heart of all Galician houses as it was once the kitchen and the only source of heat in the whole house, with its open fire. We no longer use this as the kitchen, but the fireplace has been retained for those cosy evening meals. A lot of the original features of the lareirá have been conserved. Breakfast will also be served in the dining room.
The lower floor has two more bedrooms; again one with a double bed; the other with two single beds. On this floor there is another lounge, with a TV which recives Spanish digital broadcasts. There is also a small seating area where you can read one of the many books in the library.
Outside the house there is a garden. This is a great place to sit and relax read, a book, have a glass of wine. The views from here are wonderful and overlook the wine terraces on the opposite side of the valley. Also at the front of the house is a small balcony.
There is a car park located next to the house.
